Finally, GMC is planning to release a second generation of the Acadia as well as that of other models in its mid-size crossover family (Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave). All indications point to the 2018 GMC Acadia being based on the new C1XX Chi platform. This platform allows both standard and extended wheelbase versions. The platform will also lead to reduction of weight. The vehicle will stretch 200 inches long with a width of 78.9 inches and stand at a height of 72 inches. According to the latest spy shots, the 2018 GMC Acadia features a smaller air intake grille flanked by LED headlights which are larger and with a stylish design compared to the outgoing model. The vehicle will also feature halogen fog lights. For a radical look, the vehicle will feature a chrome overwork on both front and rear bumpers and on the wheel rims.
2018 GMC Acadia Interior and Exterior
The interior will be significantly redesigned. The new 2018 GMC Acadia will accommodate 7 passengers spread on its three-row seating arrangement. Seats are upholstered in leather. All passengers will enjoy plenty of head and legroom. There will be plenty of cargo space which is increased by folding the rear seats. The 2018 GMC Acadia will feature a 5.6 inch screen which will control majority of the vehicles’ information as well as its entertainment system. A 6-speaker surround audio system integrated with Wi-Fi, satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity will be offered as standard while higher trims will feature a 10-speaker Bose audio system. There could be an overhead display fitted with a DVD Player to provide entertainment for back-row passengers. For convenience, the cabin will have many cup holders and armrests to ensure passengers feel comfortable. Security-wise, the Acadia is well equipped even for the base trim. It will feature a full package of airbags, collision alert, crisis assist, automatic crash response, stolen vehicle assistance and remote door unlock among others.
Details about the engine specs of the upcoming 2018 GMC Acadia are yet to be released. However, we are meant to understand that the engine on the outgoing model will be carried over to the new model. The engine is a 3.6 L, V6 unit that is capable of producing 281 hp and 366 lb-ft of torque. There are rumors of a second engine which according to rumor mills will be a turbocharged 2.0 L, 4-cvylinder unit.
2018 GMC Acadia Engine
2018 GMC Acadia the engine will be paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission system which will replace the current 6-speed automatic transmission system. Power will be channeled to either all wheels or front wheels. The 2018 GMC Acadia is rated with 17 mpg city and 24 mpg on highway when paired with the AWD. The FWD is rated at 16 mpg city and 23 mpg on highway. We expect the upcoming model to improve on these statistics. The top-of-the range Denali will use the same engine but tweaked to provide more power. In the Denali, the engine will produce 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
2018 GMC Acadia Price and Release Date
Though the automaker is yet to release official details on the 2018 GMC Acadia price or release date, rumor has it that the vehicle will be released to dealerships in the spring of 2017. The price won’t significantly change from the current model’s which start at $ 35,000 and goes up to$ 50,000.
